The last romantic hero… Rajesh Khanna dies

Much like most my generation, I only discovered Rajesh Khanna when he was in the twilight of his career in the late 80′s. It is his earlier hits which were aired on the telly, in Doordarshan while I was still in my knickers that got me hooked to this face. I didnt know much about cinema let alone Rajesh Khanna before all of that. But from what I’ve been told by my parents; I used to have this inexplicable fascination for this hero whenever he appeared on screen.

Apart from his charming romantic comedy and exceptionally believable acts that one could quickly associate with, all his box office hits had memorable tunes (to put it lightly), most of which were sung by Kishore Kumar. Another reason why I am sitting here today giving in to my urge to write again. I guess by the time I was 12, I had learnt most of Kishore Kumar songs by heart and its only fair to say Rajesh Khanna was the initiator.

With so much to Thank Him for, my words of appreciation in his praise would fall short for the contribution he has had in making me, what I am today. Not that I have attained anything of note yet. Its more about the matters that constitute the heart of my life : my love for movies & music !!!

Thank you Rajesh Khanna. God Bless your soul :)

Out of the thousands of songs, here is one particular tune that I found by chance and played it over and over and over again in my Philips walkman that was gifted to me on my 12th birthday. I wrote down the words and sang them along until I either got tired and slept into the night or the batteries ran out.
