Kim Jong Il the North Korean Head of state has been pronounced dead this morning owing to fatigue. He was 69. Having survived a stroke in 2008, the man had already designated his heir. His 3rd son, 20 something, little heard of Kim Jong-un will potentially take his seat. King Jong Il took over the reigns in North Korea sometime between 1992 and 1994 after the death of his father, Kim Il-sung, who had ruled the country for 46 years.

A state surrounded by mystery and stories of how a tyrant crushes dissent so thoroughly, it is hard to imagine any real democratic reforms in the The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea anytime soon.
